Club Rainbow Family Retreat (2012)

The Club Rainbow Family Retreat is held annually. Each year, families are invited to an overseas trip where they will be able to come together to spend some time bonding as a family and relax. Parents are also able to take this opportunity to have some “time off” from their 24/7 duty to care for their chronically ill child.

As part of Club Rainbow’s 20th Anniversary celebrations, 126 Club Rainbow families went on a 4-day 3-night trip to Penang and Malacca on board the Royal Caribbean Legend of the Sea Cruise. Throughout the trip, not only did families enjoy panoramic sea views, they also had a great time mingling and interacting with other CRS families.

On board, parents attended a 3-part workshop on “Managing your Children and your Emotions”. This gave parents new insights on how they can better deal with both their child and their emotions through learning about anger management and positive psychology. On the other hand, the children and youths had a fun time enjoying the activities that were specially crafted for them by a team of dedicated volunteers.

Apart from attending workshops, the Rainbow families were also able to tour both Penang and Malacca; while others took some time to explore the various family-friendly facilities that the Royal Caribbean Cruise had to offer, including a miniature golf course, rock-climbing wall, swimming pools, live music and stage productions.
