Dreamseeds Arts Fest 2023

DREAMSEEDS ARTS FEST 2023

Taking Charge!

Dreamseeds Arts Fest embraces possibilities and the spirit of perseverance.

A festival made with love, lots of adventure and sprinkled with magic by children and youths of Club Rainbow (Singapore)! As artists, musicians, and performers, let the children and youths take you on a delightful journey of their inner worlds as they dream of the future and take charge.

First unveiled in 2016, Dreamseeds Arts Fest champions inclusivity in the arts. It offers the beneficiaries of Club Rainbow (Singapore) an opportunity to realise their creative potential and connect with the community through the arts. These young talents are supported with resources and opportunities to work with local creative practitioners. This year marks the seventh edition of the festival.

After two digital editions in 2020-2021, we return as an onsite presentation this year. Navigating between virtual and reality, how has the experience been so far for you? Our collaborative artmaking activity POMDEMIC invites you to think about it. Each pompom, whether big or small, signifies the scale of impact on us and possibly puts into perspective how the pandemic has taken over our lives - through pompoms.

Through participants’ involvement in the craft-making process and roping our community in the installation, a visual explosion unveils a collaborative expression of the impact. Express your thoughts by making pompoms and pom-barding the exhibition venue with us!

Dreamseeds Arts Fest 2020 - Prism of Imagination

This year marks the 5th edition of the festival.

As we continue to look ahead, we reflect on how our beneficiaries have come so far in this journey with CRS – of self-discovery, creativity, perseverance, and empowerment.

This year’s programme responds to the theme Prism of Imagination, exploring how our budding artists draw inspiration from their surroundings, personal and shared stories, as well as with the world at large. We hope to replace preconceived notions with wonderful explosions of imagination, dreams, and enthusiasm, where boundaries can be unlocked.

The festival concept will continue into the next festival edition in 2021, signalling our commitment to deepen the engagement and collaborations for our beneficiaries; further refining their artistic ideas, processes, and presentations.

For the first time, DSAF moves online with a virtual art exhibition and streamed performances. So sit back and be entertained at what we have to offer at the comfort of your home!

Collaborative Doodling Mural Programme & Installation with Band of Doodlers

Please note that this programme will be the final Visual Arts artist-collaborative IBP leading up to DSAF.

As part of Club Rainbow’s Interest-Based Programme (IBP), CRS is collaborating with local artists Band of Doodlers for a Collaborative Doodling Mural Programme and Installation. Beneficiaries will participate in a 2-day workshop to learn basic character doodling and illustrate on individual customised shapes, which will be pasted on a large wall in DSAF 2018 exhibition. This programme is suitable for beneficiaries who wish to engage with a simpler art form to produce unique doodles on their individual panels. Participating beneficiaries will be able to bring home their individual panels after the end of DSAF 2018.

Artist collaborations this year will adopt a more inclusive structure that directly involves beneficiaries in the installation creation process – allowing greater interaction and conversations between engaged artists and participating beneficiaries. Participants will be coached towards creating works that reflect the resulting installations’ aesthetics and concept, learn more about production considerations artists face for large-scale projects, and have the opportunity to develop listening, critical thinking, writing skills, and visual communication skills.

WORKSHOP DATES:

20 October (Saturday): 2 – 4pm

27 October (Saturday): 2 – 4pm

Note: This is a progressive programme that leads to a final collaborative installation piece at DSAF 2018 - participants are strongly encouraged to attend all 2 sessions.

Digital Music Programme

Devised specifically for Club Rainbow by Thunder Rock School, this programme introduces participants to digital music applications through iPads - allowing users to play complex music with just a tap of a button. Targeted to beneficiaries who face physical restrictions towards learning traditional music instruments, the pilot Digital Music Programme employs the technology of iPads to enable these children to play a vast range of musical instruments with just simple finger movements.

Selected participants will eventually learn how to play musical parts that complement what the Music Mentorship Beneficiary Bands are learning, and perform together as a unique, inclusive group at Dreamseeds Arts Fest's Opening Concert.

The programme consists of 3 parts:
1. Class learning sessions
2. Group rehearsals with Music Mentorship Beneficiary Bands (Selected participants)
3. Final public performance at Dreamseeds Arts Fest opening (Selected participants)

For a maximum of 5 beneficiaries only.  Last slot still available.

Beneficiaries are to attend all sessions with at least 1 caregiver, who will then be able to guide them with home practice.

5 sessions total starting 24 Sep.

Depending on progress, selected participants will have the opportunity to perform together with participants of the Music Mentorship Programme at Dreamseeds Arts Fest's opening concert on 17 Nov.

iPads will be loaned to participants who do not own one. All necessary application purchase charges will be covered by CRS. If you require specific info on the loan contract, please contact Felicia @ 6377 1789.

The Tapestry Installation with Fictive Fingers

As part of Club Rainbow’s Interest-Based Programme (IBP), CRS is collaborating with local design duo Fictive Fingers, who specialises in silkscreen printing and homemade crafts. In this 4-day workshop, beneficiaries are invited to design their own silkscreen prints on individual pieces of fabric to be put together into a 4m by 4m tapestry of patchwork. This programme will lead up to a large-scale feature installation at DSAF 2018.

Artist collaborations this year will adopt a more inclusive structure that directly involves beneficiaries in the installation creation process – allowing greater interaction and conversations between engaged artists and participating beneficiaries. Participants will be coached towards creating works that reflect the resulting installations’ aesthetics and concept, learn more about production considerations artists face for large-scale projects and have the opportunity to develop listening, critical thinking, writing skills, and visual communication skills.
